Today I’m sharing a recipe for Oatmeal Chicken Porridge, a perfect breakfast dish.
It’s quick to make and keeps you full and warm—
a simple yet nutritious one-bowl meal 😊


🛒 Ingredients – Simple but Satisfying

  • 1–2 pieces of chicken breast
  • 1 stalk of green onion
  • 10 tbsp rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce or tuna extract
  • About 700ml water

The ingredients are super simple.
It’s a dish you can whip up with what you already have at home,
so I find myself making it often on busy mornings.


🔥 Making the Broth – Start with Fragrant Green Onion

Start by boiling water in a pot
and adding green onion to infuse the broth.
As the water begins to boil,
the aroma of green onion gently rises—
a soothing scent that warms your stomach.

You can add the green onion whole,
or slice it thinly for a deeper flavor in the broth.


🥣 Adding Oats – Gentle Grains for the Morning

Once the water starts boiling,
add about 10 tablespoons of oats.
I used rolled oats, which took around 15 minutes to cook.

If you use quick oats,
you can finish this dish even faster than instant noodles,
making it perfect for rushed mornings.


🍗 Adding Chicken – Cook Until Tender

When the oats have softened,
add chicken breast.
I used pre-boiled chicken breast,
shredded along the grain for a tender texture.

As it cooks, the chicken adds depth to the broth,
and by the time the porridge is done,
it becomes soft and juicy.


🧂 Seasoning – Clean Flavor with Light Soy Sauce

When the porridge is nearly done,
add 1 tbsp of light soy sauce or tuna extract to season.
I used light soy sauce, and it gave the dish
a clean and mild flavor that’s perfect for breakfast.

Feel free to add salt or pepper to taste.
And if you want it even more filling,
crack in an egg for extra richness!

Once it’s ready,
